Outer Banks Beacon is an independent, online publication created solely by informed volunteers concerned about the trajectory of American politics. We are the Outer Banks’ only outlet for news and views focused exclusively on local, state, and national politics and issues.

Our mission is to present an alternative voice within the largely conservative Outer Banks community. But being an alternative voice does not mean using “alternative facts.” We are committed to publishing only researched, substantiated, and fact-based news and opinions. And, in doing so, we hope to bring together like-minded people and strengthen community ties.

Published weekly, Beacon is a not-for-profit publication. We welcome donations from our readers.

Want to write for the Beacon?

We are always looking for solid and informed writers to contribute to Beacon. If you would like to be considered, please send an email that—

•  Briefly describes your experience
•  Identifies the subject areas of interest to you
•  Includes two writing samples.

Your email should be addressed to info@outerbanksbeacon.com. We will respond as soon as possible.

Please note: Beacon is a not-for-profit publication created by volunteers. We’re sorry, but we cannot pay for stories at this time.
